Nvidia Surpasses Wall Street Forecasts with Accelerated AI Revenue Growth

by admin477351

Nvidia has once again surpassed Wall Street’s expectations, signaling continued growth amid the AI boom and the rapid expansion of datacenters worldwide. On Wednesday, Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the significance of this trend, stating, “The buildout of AI factories – the largest infrastructure expansion in human history – is accelerating at extraordinary speed.” Huang highlighted the emergence of agentic AI, which is already delivering tangible value and rapidly scaling across various sectors.

As the world’s most valuable company with a market cap of $5.4 trillion, Nvidia plays a pivotal role in the semiconductor chip market, essential for big tech’s AI ambitions. U.S. tech giants are anticipated to allocate around $750 billion this year alone on AI infrastructure, with a significant chunk of that investment directed towards datacenter chips. Huang projected that Nvidia would outpace the capital expenditure growth of hyper-scaled datacenters.

Nvidia’s datacenter business is a key revenue driver for the company, showcasing a remarkable 92% year-over-year increase, reaching a record $75.2 billion. Despite facing competition from major tech companies like Amazon and Google in chip production, Nvidia exceeded expectations with $81.62 billion in revenue for the first quarter of 2026, surpassing analysts’ projections of $78.86 billion. The company’s earnings per share also topped Wall Street estimates, reporting $1.87 per share against the expected $1.76.

In international developments, Huang recently joined Elon Musk and Donald Trump on a trip to China aboard Air Force One. While optimistic about Nvidia’s potential expansion into China, it remains uncertain whether Chinese authorities will embrace American technology. Last December, the Trump administration permitted the export of Nvidia’s H200 AI chips to China, subject to a 25% fee. Huang expressed hope that the Chinese market would eventually open, though Nvidia’s current outlook does not include expected revenue from datacenter compute sales to China.

During an earnings call on Wednesday, Nvidia’s CFO Colette Kress confirmed that the company hasn’t generated revenue from chip sales to China, and it remains unclear if imports will be approved. While Trump authorized these sales, Xi Jinping has reportedly blocked them, keeping Nvidia’s operations in China in a state of uncertainty.
